THE ATLANTIC

The Atlantic is a print and online resource with the goal of immersing the reader in the world - instead of escaping from it - through honest reporting and analysis, and alluring narrative. The client needed an illustration for a keynote article about AI penned by Henry Kissinger to be featured in their print monthly.

In his article How the Enlightenment Ends, Dr. Kissinger firmly argues that neither the philosophical nor practical impact of AI on the future history of humanity have been adequately explored to warrant proceeding glibly down the path of development.

In this digital illustration, I created a dramatic tone, and highlighted the tension between the Enlightenment and AI by combining iconic humanist images from da Vinci with darkly contrasting android elements. (speculative work)
